Introduction

So this is a community to find inspiration for writing, utilizing your creative explanations or use of a word not found in a typical lexicon. This is the deviantART companion to the original livejournal community.

Starting twice a week, there will be a writing prompt posted, probably on Sundays and Wednesdays. Each prompt will contain two parts, a general prompt and a specific prompt. Both prompts will revolve around a single non-existent word.

The general prompt will contain only the word. Go crazy. Write whatever you want.

The specific prompt will contain both the word and a number of structural challenges to complete in your response, such as word count (a limit, range, or specific number), theme, genre, or style. You can try to accomplish all the challenges, or you can pick and choose which you like.

Responses can be submitted as deviations or scraps, and linked as a comment to the original prompt. Adult content is acceptable but must be flagged appropriately. Please include the title and word count in your comment.

The collection of responses will be gathered and displayed in a collection on our front page. Particularly creative or skillful responses will be featured in the community with the poster's permission.

The nonsensical word in question will be either taken from Seventh Sanctum or made up by the poster of the prompt. Requests for featured words can be sent directly to this account by note, or to the moderator, syntaxerruam.

Membership

Any member of deviantART can join our community. Membership grants ability to have your responses added to the official collection, and the possibility of being featured. There is no minimum commitment for members. You can respond to none, some, or all of the prompts. You can even respond more than once to any given prompt. To be added to our list of members, devWATCH the community and send us a note with the subject "Join."

Word Suggestions

Suggestions and requests for the featured word in a prompt are accepted and considered. Send a note to this group or ~SyntaxErruam with the subject "Word Suggestion." A confirmation will be sent that we have received your request as soon as possible, and a decision will be sent shortly.
